What would you do if everything you were taught about your home planet was a lie?
What would you do if you were
ENDIRION is a thirteen year old boy like any other. Except his skin is green and it glows. And he doesn’t have any hair on his head or anywhere else on his body. Oh and he lives in a cave underground. But so does everyone on the poisoned Mother Planet. There is little to eat and what they do have is as mutated as the people themselves. Fuel is scarce and technology exists only in history books.
Or so they are told.
When Endirion and his classmate Harlo are sentenced to hard labor at the Dump they see things that go against everything they have ever known about their planet. Determined to find out the truth the boys set off on a dangerous journey that pits them against angry marshals, mysterious animals, mutant humanoids, and lands them in the belly of a Monstruwhale. It is a harrowing quest takes them down remote tunnels, across the Lake of Fire, into the Madlands and a whole new world.

Praise for Left Behind Book One: The Forbidden Voyage
“The author is a wonderful storyteller. The writing is a pleasure to read. The author knows very well how to keep the reader on the edge of his or her seat and to entertain with novel, creative ideas and characters. This is a great book for young adults, but even someone such as me, who is an older adult and seasoned science fiction reader, found myself captivated by its pace and ideas.” Casey Dorman, editor Lost Coast Review
Praise for Suicide in Tiny Increments (Riya Anne Polcastro)
“I loved the author’s take no prisoners writing. This novel was a product of wit, twisted humor, and bold descriptive skills. An entertaining read from start to finish. Seriously, with the right actors to play the part of the sick, sad—but certainly intriguing– characters, I can easily see this as a satisfying tragicomedy film.” K.Z. Morano, author of 100 Nightmares
Biography: R. Anne Polcastro wrote her first book when she was five years old. It was only twenty some words long, typed up by her kindergarten teacher, and bound with construction paper and yarn . . . but it was the beginning of a dream that would later eat at the grown up her until she quit her boring office job to write more books. And while she no longer dictates fantasies about wild ponies to someone sitting at an old school typewriter, Polcastro’s stories still revel in the speculative. For example, in her Left Behind Trilogy, a series of middle grade sci fi dystopian novels, she gives a teenage alien the reigns to one wild adventure.
Polcastro was born and mostly raised in the Pacific Northwest. When she wasn’t there, she was growing up on the other side of the Mexican border, which is why she learned to read and write in Spanish first (not that she can speak anything but English very well, and even that can be a challenge early in the morning). And while it was hard to love the wet again after the desert, Polcastro still hails from the rain infested northwest where she lives with her two kids and their family dog.
Like most writers, Polcastro is an avid reader. And also like most writers, what she reads determines what she writes. Some idols that might shine through in her words are Tolstoy and Palahniuk, and after reading The Secret Garden to her daughter she realized what a huge impact her own childhood exposure to Frances Hodgson Burnett had on her character development. With Island of the Blue Dolphins next on the Mother Daughter Reading List, she suspects she is about to discover more clues to how she became the writer she is today. And with reading interests as varied as dark literary fiction, young adult, zombie apocalypse, sci fi lite, family drama, and pretty much anything with good writing and an interesting storyline, Polcastro has a reading list that will never be finished and a decade worth of book ideas to write in a variety of genres, some of them conflicting. It is out of this conflict that Storyteller Grrrl is born: R. Anne Polcastro is the family friendly side, the other face is Riya, Riya Anne Polcastro, and her stories are not for the faint of heart (or the underage). Author of Suicide in Tiny Increments and the soon to be released Jane., Riya specializes in the dark and disturbing. Inspired by a healthy fascination with mental illness, her stories feature a no holds barred approach to the grittier parts of life.
Regardless of which Polcastro you read, you are guaranteed an authentic tale. One thing is for sure, no matter how much she thinks or plans or demands, her characters run the show. They speak for themselves and do what they want to do. She is no more than a conduit for the story they wish to tell.
